Kaş, season by season

Spring (April-May): the quiet opening

The sea is still cool but the town and the dive sites are calm. A lovely period if you don't mind a thicker wetsuit, and course students get extra scheduling flexibility with their instructor.

Summer (June-August): the peak

Water climbs above 25°C, a thin suit is enough and the days are long: the most comfortable window for a discovery dive. One note: in July-August weeks, message a few days ahead to secure boat space.

Autumn (September-November): the diver's season

The sea holds its summer warmth for a long time while the crowds thin out. September and October are the months many experienced divers call the best of the year, ideal for day trips and multi-dive packages.

Winter (December-March): the connoisseur's season

The water is cool but diving doesn't stop: on suitable days you dive in a thick suit at nearly empty sites. Trips are planned around the weather, so send us your dates and we'll look together.

Why is visibility so good?

The Kaş coastline has little river inflow and the bottom drops away quickly from shore, which keeps the water clear all year: over 20 metres of visibility on most days, and much more on the good ones. That clarity is a big part of why sites like the wrecks, the Canyon and the Blue Cave are so photogenic.

Marine life shifts with the seasons too: loggerhead turtles are seen more often in summer, while grouper, moray and octopus are year-round residents of the reefs. Nature makes no promises, but Kaş is generous.

Which month suits whom?

  • First-time divers: June-October. Warm water makes the first experience comfortable; see the first-dive guide.
  • Course students: May-October. Stable seas for a 3-4 day program; there's a sample holiday plan in the certification guide.
  • Certified divers: the September-October balance is hard to beat; summer means long days and the warmest water. Trip and package programs are on the prices page; exact price on WhatsApp within minutes.
  • Crowd-avoiders: April-May or November, and of course winter.
