Hidayet Bay (Stonehenge)
Sheltered, calm and full of history: the classic address for first dives and training.
A sheltered, calm bay suitable between 5 and 35 m for try dives and training as well as experienced divers. At 18 m sits a replica of the Uluburun wreck, the oldest shipwreck known, built in Kaş and sunk here to become home to all the local grouper species. Dated to the 15th century B.C., the original's very rich cargo, excavated between 1984 and 1994, is now at the Bodrum Underwater Archaeology Museum; an "in situ" scene at 15 m recreates the wreck as sponge divers first found it, with imitation amphorae, copper ingots and stone anchors. The rock-and-sand drop-off in front of the south point steps down with rich wildlife, and the intricate bottom of the bay to the east truly earns the nickname "Stonehenge".
